Bettinger House History
The Bettinger House was built in 1904 by John J. Haas and sold to the Bettingers in 1911. Philip and Elizabeth Bettinger hosted traveling entertainers and medicine peddlers. Phillip owned and ran the General Store and served as the Mayor of Plain. As the town midwife, Elizabeth also delivered more than 300 babies in this home.
Today Jim and Marie Neider invite travelers into the home and lives of Marie’s ancestral family. Each room is named for a family member, and you can read about their lives, pour over family photos or coax Marie to share memories along with her great cooking.
Soon you too will be an extended member of the Bettinger family.
